SMSF Specialist

Role Overview Client is looking for a detail-oriented SMSF Specialist with experience in Australian accounting and taxation to join our product and operations team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of accounting and technology, where you will support the development, testing, and improvement of accounting software solutions used by Australian accounting firms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on exposure to SMSF accounting, compliance processes, and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Prepare SMSF and accounting test data within accounting software platforms for product testing and validation. Develop real-world accounting use cases and scenarios for effective software testing. Replicate customer support queries and issues to identify product improvements. Conduct release testing for new software features and updates. Create test scenarios, test cases, and execute testing cycles while documenting results. Validate outputs, identify defects, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues. Collaborate with product, engineering, and support teams to communicate testing insights. Provide recommendations to improve software functionality and user experience related to SMSF workflows. Ensure business and product requirements are accurately reflected in testing processes. Support production releases and perform post-release validation. Prepare specification documents, user stories, acceptance criteria, and workflow documentation for product enhancements. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum 3+ years of experience in Australian accounting, taxation, or SMSF accounting. Strong understanding of SMSF compliance, accounting principles, and financial reporting. Experience in SMSF account preparation or review. Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Good communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, development, support). Preferred Skills Experience with SMSF administration software such as: Class Super BGL SuperMate or similar platforms.
