Role Summary
The Consultant – Data Governance (Cloud) is a hands-on delivery role within the IDMC Data Governance Practice.
Working under the guidance of senior team members, the Consultant configures and operates the IDMC governance
and quality tools — CDGC, MCC, CDAM, CDP, and CDQ — to help clients catalog, govern, secure, and improve the quality of their data.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance & Cataloging (CDGC + MCC)
• Set up the data catalog in CDGC by registering data sources and adding their connection details.
• Add and organize business terms in the business glossary, and link them to the right tables and columns.
• Run and monitor metadata scans in the Metadata Command Center (MCC) — pick the source, schedule the scan, and check that metadata loads correctly.
• Tag and classify data assets (for example, marking which fields contain sensitive or personal data).
• Help build data lineage views that show where data comes from and where it flows, and use them to check the impact of changes.
• Assist data stewards by keeping glossary entries, classifications, and catalog content up to date.
Data Access Management (CDAM)
• Set up data access policies and rules in CDAM under guidance.
• Apply masking and classification-based controls to protect sensitive data.
• Help publish data assets to the data marketplace and manage access requests.
Data Profiling & Quality (CDP + CDQ)
• Run data profiling in CDP to check data for completeness, accuracy, and duplicates.
• Build and test data quality rules and scorecards in CDQ.
• Track data quality results and help fix flagged issues.
Advisory & Delivery (Supporting Role)
• Take notes and capture requirements during client workshops, with guidance from senior consultants.
• Help prepare solution documents, configuration runbooks, and handover guides using existing templates.
• Support senior team members on pre-sales activities, estimations, and proof-of-concept builds.
Required Skills & Competencies
• Working exposure to one or more of CDGC, MCC, CDAM, CDP, and CDQ, with willingness to ramp on the rest.
• Basic understanding of data governance concepts — catalogs, glossaries, lineage, and data quality.
• Proficiency in SQL and a general understanding of data and database concepts.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, AWS, or GCP).
• Good written and verbal communication; able to document work clearly

• Exposure to broader IDMC services (CDI, CAI, MDM SaaS, Product 360).
• Awareness of data privacy regulations (GDPR, DPDPA 2023).
